This winter is proving to be rough going for my headspace. How many more grey, wet and freezing days can one endure? The troops have cabin fever and the mummy just wants to crawl into a cave with a pile of good books, coffee, needles and gorgeous yarn.What is bringing cheer to my grumpy heart is my new Pretty Pink Noro socks. I whipped this up in my current favourite Treliske Organic 8ply. I'm in a weeny bit of a knitting funk at the moment juggling ideas for winter knits for ME so it's nice to be able to churn out some simply baby stuff.

I like to connect with people like me but also be challenged outside of my own existence by people doing rockin' stuff. I love seeing what other busy mamas are able to create. I love staying in touch with friends that aren't local.
What was the most enjoyable thing you did today?
It will be going to the public library later this arvo.
What's your biggest regret in life?
I have two not-so-major ones: Giving up piano lessons before finishing my grades and getting my letters, not carrying on French when I started uni.

My sweet, busy middle one turned seven last week. Mama took her and her bestie into Wellington for an evening in a hotel. We could not have encountered worse weather than what we had on our trip in, starting with having to wait for the train on the unsheltered side of the platform, then waves splashing onto the train as we approached Wellington, and finishing with a brief walk in gale force winds to the hotel.
Once inside, safe and warm, we hit the pool and spa, followed by a big bubble bath for the girls while I watched Robin Hood on Sky (he's a recurring theme around our place). The girls loved their dinner in the fancy schmancy restaurant with chandeliers - cheese burgers;-)
(See, I was there but clearly unable to take group shots including myself.)
They even managed to get to sleep in the same bed at a reasonable hour, allowing me to read to my heart's content. Bestie's mama joined us for brekkie and a spot of retail therapy before we all returned to the real world. Glad you had such a super birthday, darling!!
I first knitted this man a jersey while we were still dating. I remember my (superstitious) grandmother expressing some misgiving. At that stage I hadn't heard of the Sweater Curse. I'm pleased to say we appear to have triumphed over it and will celebrate 15 years of marriage in a few weeks. I thought he probably deserved another jersey for putting up with me for all these years.

We've been enjoying walking through our local bush reserve, spotting and identifying interesting fungi and talking to the friendly fantails.
When the weather gets a bit wobbly we snuggle in front of the fire, and enjoy the company of good friends, basking in whatever sunshine can struggle through the clouds.
The mama hibernates on the couch under her new thrifted crochet blanket plotting her winter knitting conquests! The colours will cheer me up through our seemingly endless wet winter.
